Orientalists and self orientalism have turned women from Eastern cultures into fetishized objects for viewing and aesthetic pleasures. With this series of photos, we have created an environment where the model is adorned in stereotypes. The models inhibit self orientalism and are dressed in oriental carpets as if they are wearing a cloak that can be taken off when they decide they don’t want to be perceived as an oriental. Still, however, by simply looking Asian, they continue to be orientalized and fetishized.
