SIMRAH FARRUKH

I am a freelance American-Pakistani photographer and designer based in California. I am currently a fourth year University student studying the Arts. I shape my work around South Asian culture in response to the lack of brown representation in western art and fashion. Between digital and different film stocks, common themes I explore are identity, social issues within South Asian culture, and womanhood. My work is a cross between portraiture and fashion. Color plays an important role in my work, and I often choose deep and earthy palettes that I believe emulate South Asians as humans- strong, resilient, and beautiful.
